UFCU Community Library Annual Report
In 2007 the Ukrainian FCU library was moved to its new location in the lower level of the credit union’s main office in Rochester, NY. Even during the move due to upgrading of the credit unions new data processing system, the library’s activities did not stop.
Every day at least 10-15 people visited the library; besides its regular readers elementary and high school students, college students, church pastors, schoolteachers, university professors and others visited the library. The library is always a place visited by official credit union delegations and guests, as well as visiting relatives from Ukraine and members from the American community at large.
Besides interesting books, there are also rare issues of ancestral documents, family photographs, and handwritten family correspondences depicting 100 years of the Ukrainian community in greater Rochester. This year our library became a member of Ukrainian Historical society.
All the Dumka issues were bound into 10 books, 15 sets each – from 1955 till today. One set of Dumka was sent to the Research Institute of Ukrainian Diaspora at the Ukrainian National University “Ostroh Academia” together with 70 books written by Rochester Ukrainian.
In 2007 assisting in the library were Ms. Irena Terlezkyj and student Ihor Dzivulsky. We greatly appreciate their help.
