UFCU 55th Anniversary Displays

The 55th Anniversary of UFCU was celebrated by six displays in 2008. Six exhibits of Credit Union Opinion Magazine and six other Ukrainian Publications from Ukrainian Rochester Collection were displayed in:

1) January at Cortland County Building,

2) February-March at Rundel Main Rochester Library,

3) in May at State University of NY, College at Brockport library,

4) April at Annual Credit Union meeting in the hall of Slavic Pentecostal Church,

5) September 8-10 in University of Ostroh Academy in Ukraine,

6) October 25 at the celebration of 55th anniversary Banquet at St. Mary`s Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Exhibits were installed by Credit Union library staff.

UFCU Opinion Magazine

This year marks the 54th anniversary of our quarterly Cooperative Opinion magazine.
From a simple publication delivering financial reports, the original one page “Informational Newsletter” eventually grew into a quarterly magazine with a circulation of over 15 thousand copies. With the growth of the credit union, there came an increase in circulation, followed by changes in design, number pages and volume of information.
The Credit Union Opinion currentlyhighlightsUFCU’s financial services, products, member achievements and community events.

The Opinion is mailed to UFCU members, as well as potential members, friends, local, national and international officials, organizations and a variety of businesses. There were many dedicated editors and volunteer editorial board members who made the publication a success. The first editor was Illya Demydenko. The current editorial staff includes Tamara Denysenko, Galyna Lisova and Christine Wagenblass. There were many contributing writers from the community, UFCU employees, Board of Directors, and others.

Recently we began writing about UFCU history. It is being coordinated and edited by Volodymyr Kunets, PhD Physics-Mathematics at Sacramento Branch and Tamara Denysenko, CEO. The purpose – to analyze, document and highlight the conditions, historical moments and development of the Ukrainian FCU.
